Key Moments
Treat “not mentioned” education as non-binding
Seven roles omit degree requirements, but one QA role and the finance systems role explicitly list bachelor’s degrees—so always verify the actual posting wording before assuming education isn’t needed.Don’t assume “junior” means no experience
The “Junior Software Engineer · Remote Contract” prefers about a year at a top tech company (partly within the last three years), showing that “junior” can still carry meaningful experience signals.Follow role-specific certification signals
Pick credentials that match the work: ISTQB Foundation is advantageous for QA/UAT, AWS Certified Security – Specialty is highly valued for security operations, and ITIL/Microsoft/Okta/Apple are listed as bonuses for IT support.Use the portfolio projects to close practical skill gaps
Match your target path to the suggested deliverables (e.g., an employee onboarding lab for IT support, a QA evidence pack for testing, a simulated incident for cybersecurity) to produce evidence you can share beyond your CV.Digipreneur Intelligence / October 2026

What these ten jobs reveal about the space
The clearest pattern is the breadth of the work. Software & IT includes building products, supporting employees, testing quality, protecting systems and helping businesses use technology effectively.
Tech has more than one door. The work behind the title tells you which skills open it.
That creates several directions to investigate when mapping existing experience to a tech career:
- Customer service: explaining problems and supporting users can connect with IT support.
- Administration or HR: onboarding and documentation can connect with technology operations.
- Finance: reporting and reconciliation can connect with business systems.
- Sales: customer discovery, combined with technical knowledge, can connect with solutions engineering.
These connections are starting points for learning. The featured roles still have technical requirements, and several expect years of relevant experience.
The education picture: read beyond the headline
Each tile represents one featured description. This is a ten-job snapshot, not an industry-wide survey.
Our review of these ten descriptions found:
- Seven do not explicitly name a degree.
- Affidea accepts a degree, diploma or equivalent practical experience.
- The QA Engineer and PMI descriptions list bachelor’s degrees.
This gives candidates a reason to look closely at individual opportunities. A degree omitted from a description does not establish that the employer has no education preference.
We found no explicit applicant-portfolio requirement or described hiring case study across these ten listings. Tether’s open-source bonus is concrete evidence of an employer valuing visible work. Tiugo’s demonstrations and proofs of concept are responsibilities of the job, not confirmed interview assignments.
Certifications: follow your chosen path
The listings provide some specific signals. Affidea names ISTQB Foundation as advantageous. Yellow Card values AWS Certified Security – Specialty. 6sense mentions ITIL, Microsoft, Okta, Apple and security certifications as bonuses, without naming every exam.
Beyond those employer mentions, our recommendations are to explore Microsoft MD-102 for endpoint administration and SC-300 for identity work.
For business systems and reporting, consider Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant, MB-310, or Power BI Data Analyst, PL-300. These are learning recommendations, not stated requirements in the corresponding featured descriptions.
Exam fees vary by provider and location. AWS Security Specialty is an advanced option. Choose a credential that supports the work you intend to do and fits your current knowledge.
Free learning. Practical output.
Harvard CS50x builds programming foundations and offers a free CS50 certificate upon meeting its completion requirements. The optional paid edX credential is separate. Apply the learning to a small, useful application.
Full Stack Open offers free web-development learning and a course certificate. Learners with programming basics can develop their understanding of applications and APIs.
Test Automation University offers free testing courses and completion certificates. Use the exercises as a starting point for testing your own project.
Cisco Networking Academy’s cybersecurity pathway provides free foundational learning. Course recognition and professional certification exams are different things; check what each option awards.

AI is appearing across the work
6sense includes employee AI tools. Xperteez evaluates AI-generated code. Tiugo connects AI capabilities with customer solutions. Yellow Card brings AI and automation into security operations.
Across these roles, learning AI means understanding how it fits into a discipline: checking outputs, recognising failures and making sound technical decisions. Those are capabilities to practise alongside the core skills of your chosen path.
